"What kind of wine pairs best with cupcakes and pizza? Can you ask?"

And so our road trip down south yesterday morning began optimistically in an aisle of the local Cupertino Whole Foods. My friends Kristina & Rebecca and I were heading to the Airbnb residence affectionately known as the "Mushroom Dome" cabin (for its unique wood domed roofing) in the mountainous outskirts of Santa Cruz. It was the kind of trip that seems, in retrospect, best symbolically (not superficially!) described by its items — this was the vibe: a little blue mini Cooper, a Jambox blasting none other than Taylor Swift on repeat because we didn’t have wifi and that was all I had synced via Rdio, cupcakes and wine, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and of course, frozen pizza. Hopefully you get the gist — mostly ad-libbed, lots of fun.
